Take a memorable 75-minute flight in a small plane to the Gwich’in Athabascan village of Fort Yukon. This historic village is located on the banks of the Yukon River, eight miles north of the Arctic Circle. Your local guide will share his/her personal perspective of Native culture, salmon fishing, subsistence lifestyle, the Yukon River, and other aspects of village life. Your tour will consist of about 2.5 scenic hours of flight time and 1-1.5 hours visiting Fort Yukon. You will also receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. This is an authentic window into Athabaskan culture. This tour departs at 7 pm and returns by 11 pm.
For All-Alaska Tour participants, this option is scheduled for July 4, before the basic tour begins. To join this tour, you need to arrive on July 3 or earlier.
For National Park Tour participants, this option is scheduled for June 19, following the final day of the basic tour. You’ll need to plan to stay at least one additional night in Fairbanks.
